Radio remains the most widely consumed audio platform in the United States and continues to deliver massive reach and strong advertising performance, according to “Audio Today 2026: How America Listens,” a new report from Nielsen. Radio continues to be one of the most widespread, trustworthy, and accessible media platforms in the world, reaching millions of people while promoting connection and serving communities, even in the face of digital upheaval. Its influence extends well beyond our comprehension, even if it might not be the first medium that springs to mind when we consider content consumption.
Ethnic and multicultural radio is a lifeline for newcomers in the United States and Canada. It provides vital, localized information regarding immigration services, civic duties, and health care, while also delivering a comforting connection to their native language, music, and culture.
In the U.S., major urban centers and suburbs rely on a mix of FM/AM commercial stations and community-supported radio to keep diverse populations connected.
